Im excited! Iβve only ever been in Protestant Bible studies. I have never read the apocrypha and was ignorant of the history behind them. Did a quick ChatGPT rabbit hole and wow! π€―
For anyone with a kindle you can add the free pdf to your kindle, just did it for Enoch and Jubilees. I may still order the hard copies but this will at least get me started!
I will! I am probably gonna use the Great Adventure Bible as my main translation with context, and one of the pretty Protestant Bibles for notes and easier reading lol. To be honest though I really love having the Bible app on my phone because Iβll read it when Iβm at the park with my kids, or in the bath hahaha. It helps me to have something better to scroll than Instagram π€ͺ
I bought the Great Adventure Study Bible and it would likely be my top recommendation since it has maps and commentary explaining context, plus almost all the books. BUT I also bought the CSB translation with the pretty blue drawings and this one is likely easier to read, and has space in the margins for notes. So I would recommend getting one of these two depending on your comfort level with the readability!
Finished buying my first bibles ever! I ended up choosing the Illuminated Bible for journaling only because it is cheaper. Then I wanted a physical book for the missing 7 books so I also went with the Great Adventure. If I wasn't trying to budget, I would've went with one of the Hosana but I figured I can use the app if I need any help with easier reading.
Hi! Are these both linked in the Amazon storefront? Total newbie over here and also postpartum with 5m twins - brain not firing on all cylinders over here π
Neither of these are on Amazon but both are linked in the post and in my highlight on Instagram if youβre following me there. There are also other options in my Amazon storefront.
We are covering Maccabees 1 and 2! Those are included in the Catholic and Orthodox Bibles, I'm including all 7 books that the Protestants call the Apocrypha.
So ready for this, I just purchased 2 new bibles(because I donβt already have 12, whoβs counting)and Enoch ( I have Enoch but a different one)and Jubilee. I also ordered the Blurry Creatures bible study journal book from Amazon. I am toying with joining the Substack for that, but will wait until I get the journal. Thank you for doing this, I am so excited!!!!
I ordered the Stranger Theology book too, it gets here tomorrow (today because I'm writing this awake in the middle of the night π) and I am also debating upgrading my subscription for that.
I upgraded my Sub to the Stranger Theology podcast. It was an episode of Blurry Creatures (maybe episode 6)that made so many things connect for me and brought em fully back to God. I always had science versus God struggle, how can both be true. When I heard Tim Alberino explain Genesis 6 I was shook, it all fell into place for me and I could believe both were true then. It opened my eyes, so I am going all in in 2026.
Oh I will be so interested to hear your perspective through this! I'm so curious to hear more about the mountain theology Joel discusses. I just finished putting together our reading plan for the year, will be publishing tomorrow. A lot of it lines up with the Stranger Theology annual plan (though we have several extra books, but covering similar topics). So it should be relatively straightforward to do both together.
Iβm so excited for this! Iβve been wanting to study the Bible for a long time and have tried to follow a plan but have not been able to stick with it. I think a forum like this will help keep me engaged. Looking forward to meeting and learning from everyone in the group!
I absolutely cannot wait for this. Purchased 5 Bibles today in anticipation ππ Oh and the giant map for our homeschool room! π€£
I love the map π I am a very big picture person. I need the biggest picture possible π€£
Agreed!!!! Iβm excited to put it to use!

Cant wait for this!
Iβm so excited for this! And I really appreciate you providing it for free!

Please update when you decide what you will be buying/using! π€£ Zero experience here

Will any of this be live q&a? Like a group zoom?
If thereβs demand for it (and I can figure out how to do it lol) - we can def do a zoom!
I will say the Ignatius study bible is daunting but if you like a lot of background information and nerding out it's great!
Thanks for this mention, I'm really considering this one^^^
Iβm stoked! I have been wanting to dive in and learn more about the Bible and love your thought process. This should be fascinating!!!
Really, really excited about this!
Ok a little confused. So if we opt out of the emails will we still be part of the Bible study?
Either way, I am excited to partake. I am very curious to get an Ethiopian Orthodox Bible to follow along since it contains all said books correct ?
Thank you for spreading the spirit in this way β¨πβπ½
I have the app and Iβm ordering the adventure Bible, but I still feel confused on whatβs best to have. So many options.
That's a great place to start!
Very excited to join. Anyway you could cover Macabees 1 and 2? Might be a big ask but figured its worth a shot
